A penny for your thoughts, Datuk Seri...

What would our PMX be thinking as he gazes at the nation he now leads?

He knows he now has the political power that has almost taken him a lifetime to have. He must be reflecting upon his past adversaries: - some of whom had fallen by the wayside, some defeated at the polls, and yet there are still some who present a clear and present danger to his political ambitions - for himself, and for his country.

Does he think of his nemesis that had shadowed his every step with grim persistence? Or is he more occupied with the future? What Malaysia and Malaysians can be?

A penny for your thoughts, Datuk Seri, but, if you will allow me for a moment, to invade your private thoughts. I ask that you think of just this: In all the things that you will now do as PMX, always remember to rely on what you already have in abundance....... humility!

In the times that you might be tempted to think of vain glorious thoughts that will bring fleeting political and selfish gains, gather your thoughts and think of those years you spent alone incarcerated without family and comfort and remember the promises you made to yourself then, if the moment that you are now in, comes.

What did you tell yourself then that you will do when you become prime minister? What did you tell yourself then, that you will do, should you one day lead our nation and our people as you now do? I am sure those past thoughts will temper anything and everything you now do. And you will be the better for it!

But politics in Malaysia is toxic. In my lifetime, I have seen politics destroy, not build our nation or make better, our people. I have seen the arrogance and greed that politics inflict upon anyone who thinks that they, not politics, will rule their life. In the seven decades and five years of my life, I have seen no winners in politics. In the end, there are only losers.

So Datuk Seri, as you gaze out onto the nation that you now lead, remember... humility...at all times, humility.... then InsyaAllah, all will be well.

For you Datuk Seri.....

Memories...
