Back to Basics.

Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), MACC, LHDN, the Special Branch or any department of PDRM, the AGC...the government even, are, but some of the ‘obstacles’ that corrupt politicians have to ‘deal’ with as the go about their daily nefarious activity of being corrupt. So does it surprises any of you that the powers that be, that are made up mostly of these same corrupt politicians, would ensure that all of the above government operatives are fit for purpose? And that purpose is to ensure that those who are corrupt will get away with being corrupt?

And what further proof of this is needed then to see a convicted felon effectively managing the electoral operations of the UMNO led Barisan Nasional in the Pilihan Raya Negri in Malacca. “He is here in Melaka. Going around happily. Nonchalant of his misdeeds. Most Malays especially Umno members still think he is innocent” was how my colleague, brother Yusof R, described the goings on in Malacca.

Will Barisan Nasional win the PRN in Malacca? To put it simply, BN is not the least favourite choice of the electorates in Malacca. That dubious distinction is for PN to claim as its own. The UMNO led BN has the edge but is weaken by the split in Malay votes between PAS and Bersatu.

Over PRN Malacca, the convicted felon reigns supreme. Hell, over all things Malaysian, this convicted felon reigns supreme. Is this for ever? Will a BN electoral victory in Malacca see the convicted felon and his erstwhile partner in crime, FLOM, back in business? That possibilities sacred the shit out of many of us but for others, it will be manna from the heavens again for them when these two, with their ‘Cash is King’ doctrine are back in business.

I think the UMNO led BN will win the PRN Malacca. I think the UMNO led BN are already back in the business of winning elections of any kind. They are embolden enough by circumstance and facts, to go it alone in PRU15. No DAP, no PAS, no Bersatu, no Anwar and certainly no Tun. Umno dulu, kini dan selama lama nya. These are the realities on the ground today and what happens in Malacca is critical and crucial to how politics will be done in Malaysia in the foreseeable future.

The people, the Rakyat, the electorates, you and me…call it what you will…. are superfluous to the needs of these politicians. We lack substance. We lack unity. We are unable to consolidate our needs, our wants and our hope for the future of our nation into any tangible force that can be seen to be a threat to any political party vying for Putrajaya in PRU15.

How many of you are able to understand what all this means for you and me is debatable. How many of you do understand but are reluctant, unable or will not do anything about it all, is also debatable. Time will out the truth.

For me, I go back to basics. Write. Engaging you guys in debates and conversation is not productive or useful for me because all I really want to do is write. Write about what I think. Write about what I believe in. And write about the Malaysia and Malaysians that I love and long to have again in my life. To try and do this in the present political conundrum that our people and our nation now finds itself, is challenge enough for this 75 year old blogger.

I will not apologise for being a Malay. I will not apologise for being Selangor born and breed, for having Bugis ancestries, for having left my Tanah Air over three decades ago and for believing in the goodness, ethical and morality of the many that choose simply to be able to earn a decent living and living a life without too much politics. Everything else, like life, is for you to work out for your own self, in your own time and, dare I say it, for your own self gain and interest…within reasons lah. Kan?
