Budak Tak Tau Malu!

COMMENT | When Singapore’s foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan visited Malaysia for three days of intensive talks last week, he met an impressive array of leaders, including the prime minister, royalty, other top government ministers and opposition figures. But he also did a very puzzling thing - he conferred with a convicted felon who was responsible for the greatest theft ever in Malaysia and what is still considered to be the largest kleptocratic theft of government money ever. We are, of course, talking about former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and self-styled national development company 1MDB.

For sure, Vivian Balakrishnan knows what he is doing. He is a diplomat and when in KL do as the Government in KL do. So when the ex Prime Minister of Malaysia who also happens to be a Convicted Felon requested for a meet...the diplomatic things for Vivian Balakrishnan to do is grant that request.

If anyone is to be faulted for this faux pas...it would have to be the Convicted Felon who did not know his place ...or should I say.....if anyone is at fault, it is the Convicted Felon who chases any photo opportunity with anyone he thinks will give him some credibility in his bid to make himself relevant in the scheme of things re Singapore and Malaysia.

Orang Melayu kata "Tak Tau Malu".

When you are a convicted felon, and you seek an audience with Singapore's Foreign Minister...you tak tau malu.

When you are the King and you invite a Felon for dinner...you tak tau malu.

When you are PM of Malaysia and after a visit to Washington where you did 'fuck all' and came back to declare that 'fuck all' visit a success....you tak tau malu.

There are a lot of 'tak tau malu' Melayu around these days.

Enough said.
