Cakap cakap

Selamat Pagi Malaysia.

In these past few days, my attention has been drawn to the fact (as some of you have pointed out to me) that I have been overly critical of our PMX....all this at a time when international and domestic issues are demanding his absolute attention....and as such, I should refrain from being too critical of the deeds and action of this Madani Unity Government that he leads.

It is not my intent to be critical of anyone or anything that is happening in KL. I would like to believe that what I do in this blog is articulate my thoughts, without fear or favour, of things happening, primarily, in Malaysia.

What those thoughts are is the sum of all that is happening around me as I see it. And I try to do all this from 6000km away in Melbourne.

Notwithstanding the immediacy and real-time capabilities of the WWW (information system that enables content sharing over the Internet through user-friendly ways), my opinions and views are tempered by the fact that I am not in KL....so read what I write in this blog with that in mind. Nothing beats being in the centre of things if you want to write about them! That is why we have reporters physically in the centre of the War between GAZA and Israel because nothing beats having reporters on the ground to report on what is happening around them.

Having said all that, I must also say that being in Melbourne and writing about Malaysia has its plus points. Especially about a Malaysia, that still has draconian and persecutive legislations and the means, for the powers that be, to 'persuade' you NOT to write about things they do not want you to write about....and this Madani Unity Government is no exception.

Long story short...if I am to continue to be the blogger steadyaku47, and write as steadyaku47 has been writing in the past, then I will have to make decisions as to what my priorities are - to be steadyaku47 or to come back to KL and be the blogger that the powers that be in Malaysia wants me to be.

I think that decision has already been made for me by the events now unfolding back in KL. After just a year in office, this Madani Unity Government leaves much to be desired. I want to be able to write as I think fit about the deeds and misdeeds of this UG government - and this I can only do so, in personal safety, from Melbourne.

Let us never write out of fear. But let us never fear to write.

Enough said.
