MALAYSIAN PROBLEM (?)

I refer to the 14 points article written by somebody unknown and getting the subsequent comment by Syed Akbar Ali through his column "OutSyed The Box."

While l realized the writer has noble intentions and is sincere to see change, he should have had the courage in the first instance to put down his name. It's okay to express one's view on anything for as long as it is within the realms of fair play, nothing defamatory nor seditious. God gives all of us the ' Akal' to express our thoughts. Whether it's sound and acceptable, it depends on others for everything boils down to a matter of opinion.

Besides Syed Akbar Ali, there are many Malay writers who make the point to own ownership of what they write, to name a few prominent ones- Tamrin Tun Ghaffar, Kadir Jasin, Mariam Mokhtar, Hussein Hamid, Johan Jaafar, M Bakri Musa, Yusuf Hashim and the controversial Raja Petra Kamarudin.

So, why must the writer not disclose his identity?

The 14 points listed are not new to those who keep abreast with what's going on in the country. In fact, to those who are well-read, there are many more issues that can be included.

I have but to agree with Syed Akbar Ali that the points highlighted are not Malaysian problem. They are in fact the problem of the Malays as covered in his response. It would therefore been more appropriate for that to have been written in Malay for the Malays to know the state of affairs they are in due to the mess created by the leaders of their own race, supposedly being elected and placed there by them. (This response of mine should likewise be made in Malay. If only someone can translate both into Malay and circulate for many Malays to read).

Having said that, we Malays must ask ourselves, what do we really want, and where do we want to go from here?

Do we still want these types of Malay politicians to lead our country, who are there only to enrich themselves, their family members, and their cronies while the majority of the Malays continue to remain mundur?

Without doubt now there are many Malays who got it made, who are successful in their chosen field. But the majority are still struggling with their daily lives, and many are still depending on the handouts.

But one point l would like, if l may, to remind these selfish, greedy, corrupted leaders: "have a thought that this is a temporary world". One does not remain in position, be powerful, young and rich, forever. There will come a day, one will grow old and weak and eventually die. Whatever wealth that one accumulates, will be left behind. One cannot take even, as said by Ustaz Shamsuri , ones own stocking 'busuk' to the grave.

We are not envious or jealous of your wealth for we know there is so much you can eat, use or wear. You have 6 meals a day, your stomach gets bloated. We know though you have a fleet of posh cars, your last ride will be in Kereta Jenazah Nissan. You can show off wearing a RM 6900 shirt. But your last dress will be in 3 pieces of white cloth which cost only RM1.99 a meter.

Remember, in your final days in this world, you might not be able get out of your bed. And eventually, you can't even take your own bath. Other people will bathe and 'kapan' you. So remember, when you are in power, don't be arrogant. Even power is temporary. And you are there to serve us.

What is disgusting, all of you are supposed to be Muslims and with your level of education, you should have some knowledge on Islam, a religion of peace and fairness and perpetually calls for us to do good to fellow beings and even to animals, all the time. How could you neglect your duty towards your people?

Ingat miskin sebelum kaya.

Ingat sakit sebelum sehat.

Ingat mati sebelum hidup.

JANGAN SOMBONG

Yes, it's a Malay problem caused by the Malay Politicians. Not a Malaysian problem.

Fellow Malays... SEDAR dan BERUBAH. We have enough of these type of leaders. More important, jangan kita sanjung dan puja pemimpin sedemikian.
