Hanis it's done. Let us bring her back into the fold. We are all Malaysians.

“I Hanis Nadiah Onn, a national hockey player, with humility and responsibility would like to apologise for deliberately posting a comment on Jan 28. Throughout my 10-year involvement in hockey, I am surrounded by friends from different races who are constantly fighting for Malaysia. I regret my carelessness and again I apologise to those affected.”

The racial slight by Hanis on the Indians is still out there on the Net ....why?

Surely there are Indians out there who have made derogatory comments about the Malays? Melayu bodoh! Melayu malas. And I am sure there are Chinese who have given their two cents worth about Indians. Two Indians can already form a Trade Union. Three can go on strike. What do I think of the Chinese? I don't have to say anything...let me tell you what a Chinese thought about his own people. I remember going to a Hardware store in Bangsar with Gary, a Chinese friend to buy a hammer...and as we walked in, Gary said, let me do the buying...I can get a better price. And he did. Was I upset that a Chinese can get a better price for a hammer in a Chinese hardware store...a better price than a Malay can? No, I am not...them are the realities. That's how the cookies crumble.

We all live among ourselves and try our best to get along with each other. Did Hanis cross the line with her comment about the Indians? Maybe she did. Maybe she did not...but it would have been better if she had not said it....but having said it...should it destroy her career as a national Hockey Player of note?

Surely Malaysians are more forgiving than that.

I do wish there are some Indians out there who will make an effort to reach out to her and tell her ... it's done. Now let us go back to being Malaysians again. No big deal.

Take her out for a meal ...roti canai and teh tarik at the stalls will do. Just make sure Hanis pays...that's the least she can do!

How about it guys...boleh tak...and let bygone be bygones. There are more important things in life to do than hold a grudge against a fellow Malaysian who has already apologized for a silly mistake she made. We are now living in another era - another time, and we need to make an effort to bring our brothers and sister together...no matter what. Let us bring back Hanis into the fold and embrace her as one of us.
