I am a more good man than an evil one. What are you? Decide!

There was a time when those letters U M N O meant something to me. Tengku, Tun Razak, Hussein Onn, Mahathir and Abang Lah. Whatever their shortcomings, if any, these were leaders of UMNO. For them, the country and its people were their concern and their responsibility : a responsibility they undertook seriously and they did their duty to the best of their ability. None of these UMNO leaders could have deliberately contemplated doing anything that could bring disrepute, shame and embarrassment to Malaysia, to Malaysians, to Umno, to themselves, to their family - what more their race or their religion. None of them will. These leaders and UMNO, allowed me to sleep peacefully at night.

Not anymore.

How people like Tok Mat can bring himself to be present in the same room as that Convicted Felon is something I can never understand. I am sure there must be countless other Ahli Ahli Umno who knows what that Convicted Felon and the UMNO Court Cluster have done during their time in public office, and here too, I cannot understand how they can allow this Convicted Felon to be present among them during this year’s Perhimpunan UMNO at PWTC. How has this greatest of all Malay political institution become what it is today? A den of thieves?

Surely those thousands, at PWTC, are not there because the promise of insane wealth is too alluring a promise to ignore? Surely there must be among those thousands, a few hundreds Ahli Ahli Umno who can think for themselves and understand what is right and what is wrong. Or is the need to keep UMNO alive and well, paramount against all other considerations? Because if UMNO die, they die with Umno?

There is no doubt that the all conquering Convicted Felon had the Perhimpunan UMNO in the palm of his hand. I can just picture him going back to Rosmah after the Perhimpunan, and the two of them gloating over dinner, how, for them, coming back to political power is a matter of when, not if! Rosmah is already making a list of all those people whom she will have her way with - with her wrath. She is already a woman scorned by many. And many will feel her scorned if she is ever back in Seri Perdana.

But I am getting ahead of myself here.

What the Malays have to now do is to take a long hard look at where they are today. Where UMNO is taking them to. What UMNO is doing to them, and ask themselves how it has come to this?

I know Malays in UMNO who are conflicted. They belive that UMNO will rule for at least the next decade. They know that they now have to choose - do the right thing and be with the Opposition, or be with UMNO and reap what UMNO will throw their way. These are Malays who have had a taste of the good life during those times when UMNO was still not that much tainted by the Kleptocratic ways of this Convicted Felon. They know that without UMNO, they think they will falter - and that fear of not having enough to maintain their present lifestyle, frightens them. And so they will be with UMNO for the foreseeable future. UMNO will have their support.

And then there are the Malays who genuinely fear what the Chinese will do to deprive the Malays of their living and what Christianity will do to destroy Islam. Do not say that these fears are unfounded. Do not say that the Malays are being unreasonable. The reality is that there are many Malays who have these fears and believe that only UMNO can 'protect' them. I see Malays voicing these unfounded fears in the WhatsApp group that I am with and in the private messages sent to me. What we need to do is to ask ourselves, Malays and non Malays, how we can manage these realities. Not ignore them.

But above all this, I am appalled at the lack of resolve and determination among so many of you to do something about the political mess that we are all in today. Time and time again I get so many of you telling me that there is nothing they can do, we can do or anyone can do because the Malays have already capitulated to UMNO.

If that is so, then what, am I, and many other Malays doing on the side of the Opposition? Why are there Malays in the Opposition who are against UMNO? Why are there many Malaysians who will risk life and limb to stand against the surging onslaught of an UMNO that thinks that doing Government in Malaysia is their inalienable right?

We are all together in this fight against UMNO because we know that what UMNO is now doing is wrong. That is the simple truth. Nothing else matters. Not our own life and limb. Not our ability to earn a decent living to feed our family. Not even the safety of other Malaysians, for we know that to fight UMNO is to put ourselves and many others in harms way. Damm those considerations for those considerations are personal.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,”

I do not know about you guys, but I know I am a more good a man than an evil one. And I will not do, nothing. So go think for yourself what you are, what you must do but be mindful that time is not on our side.

This morning, I woke up early with still some pain from the gout that has been with me for the past week...and a headache. I took two Panamax to rid myself of the headache and made myself a long black. Then, I made myself sit down in front of my keyboard to write this because I know it needed to be written.

And this I will try and do every single day that I can because this is what I can do to try and take back what corrupt UMNO leaders have taken for me, from the Malays and from Malaysians. Many hundreds of thousands of Malaysians, if not millions, including me, have already left our beloved Malaysia to live abroad....but our hearts and our soul are still with you guys back home. Let us together, once more, fight the good fight. This early morning, already I have received, many messages, many thoughts and comments from Malaysians everywhere who tells me, that they are going to fight the good fight come PRU15. To hell with my gout and the headache...let us ALL fight the good fight.

ABU !
