LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL AND PKR.

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has dismissed claims made by irresponsible linking the party with an Israel organisation. PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil stressed that the party remain strong providing its solidarity and support to the people of Palestine. "Of late, there were planned attempts to link PKR with a coalition of parties or Liberation International.I want to confirm that PKR is not, and the party has never been a member of Liberation International".

Comment from a PKR stalwart : There is no doubt that many of Anwar's western friends are liberal democrats. Its unwise to denounce his western friends who defended him during his detention. PKR didn't join LI as some of PKR people who are from the left were uncomfortable. That's why PKR only got invited as observer, not member. On the other hand some of PKR's people continue to link with Socialist International. Anyone who know global politics know there are two main blocks: Liberal International and Socialist International. PKR can't avoid linking with one or another. Unless PKR just want to be katak bawah tempurung. During the tough years of ISA & Anwar detention, that was not an option.
