Lompat si Katak Lompat

Acara melompat is an event open to all Malaysian politicians. It is unethical, disgraceful, and shameful. It is normally done for purely monetary considerations. It can be pivotal and decisive in ensuring the continued "good health" of a politician and/or a political party. More often than not, it's a political urge that is aroused and stimulated at the mere mention of the word "ELECTION" or when that fails, impending arrest, SPRM, PDRM, and words to that effect, also helps.

It afflicts many politicians, at all levels, at various times of their political life, for various ends. We have seen it all. The grand gesture of Tun Mahathir leaving Umno for the opposition, to the recent 300 ahli Bahagian Tanjong Piai Johore, leaving Bersatu to join Warisan and anything in between, like Xavier Jayakumar, bekas Naib Presiden PKR joining Perikatan Nasional to make PDRM and SPRM stay away from his "good self".

Now that the word "ELECTION" is being increasingly mentioned by the powers that be, it stands to reason that many kataks have been awakened from their all too brief melompat hiatus. They have been awakened by persons unknown and once awakened, they must look for ways and means to satisfy those raging hormonal melompat urges, now, rather than later. And so let the games begin.

Some kataks, because of their overt political value, are enticed and offered much inducements to lompat. Some kataks, because of impending doom, whether real or contrived, usually in the guise of PDRM, LHDN or SPRM, are offered the opportunity to melompat to make those impending doom go away, or at the very least - stayed. And then of course there are those kataks who fall in between. They lompat after suitable remunerations are negotiated for to provide for the demands of themselves and their future generations to come, to live in the style and manner that their corrupt self has been accustomed. How many of their future generations is to be taken care of before they lompat is really in the laps of the Gods.

And then there are the kataks who are delirious of taking part in the lompat event, but find themselves without sponsors or worse still, have no residual value left in their arsenal of political bags of tricks to bargain with. These are the political pengkhianats, lepers and parasites that no political party would want to be associated with. Two come to my mind instantly.

  • Hamzah Zainuddin.

  • Azmin Ali.

Both are now senior ministers in the PN government. How they have got to where they are now is moot. Suffice to say that on the way up the ladder they have upset a few people. And the same few people are now waiting for these two to come down the same ladder. Only this time around, those waiting for Hamzah and Azmin to come down the ladder are the ones in whose hands lie the fate of those two senior ministers. And they all want their pound of flesh from these two.

Hamzah and Azmin have been hawking their 'considerable political acumen and strength" ...NOT!.. to any takers starting with Umno, with the familiar refrain "we had nothing to do with Langkah Sheraton". They tried that out with the very people they collaborated with to make Langkah Sheraton happen, and they tried it out on the very people they cast aside with Langkah Sheraton. No can do lah.

Umno said.."others can join, but not Hamzah or Azmin". And from then on it was a gradual progression of the same "others can join, but not Hamzah and Azmin" down the line until it eventually and finally went back to their president, TSMY who, I am led to understand, is not too happy with the antics of his two senior ministers.

These two are now up the creek without a paddle. Dead meat. Itik patah kaki. For me and many other Malaysians, two words for these two: GOOD RIDDANCE!

Meanwhile, there will be more katak melompat ka sini dan ka sana. If you want some clues as to who these kataks are, let me give you some pointers. Disregard Hamzah and Azmin for nobody wants them. Everybody else is fair game. Enough said.
