"mutlak" ...absolute, unrestricted, unconditional, unwavering, complete!

One of life's unpleasant realities of living in Malaysia is the Little Napoleons that we encounter as we go about the business of earning a living in these difficult and troubled economic times. Every person of little authority from the traffic policemen, the municipal enforcement officers, and at the base level of government, wield their "kuasa mutalak" and make your life a living hell if they choose to do so. Sometimes they do so for money, sometimes for sport, and most times they do so because they can. Life is a constant battle to 'negotiate' your way through these "gatekeepers" stationed, it seems, almost everywhere we need to go to do business with the authorities.

This mentality of wanting to be "Little Napoleons" is so ingrained in the mentality of Malaysians that you find yourself having to kautim your way through every aspect of life with people who are wanting and waiting to show you how important a part they can play in making your daily life more miserable. I dread the time spent in government departments and the enforcement authorities - always unpleasant and always having to deal with Little Napoleons lost in their own hubris.

Umno also wants this "kuasa mutlak"....absolute, unrestricted, unconditional, unwavering, complete, and full political power. They want absolute political power to do what? What do Najib and Zahid Hamidi intend to do with this "kuasa mutlak" that they have been insisting Umno must have and will have if they could only have PRU15 dengan segera.

And who is going to give Umno/BN this kuasa? The electorates that dismissed them from office at PRU14? The electorates from whom Umno/BN, together with a few others, had taken government from in order to do government themselves, even though unelected? The electorates who know about 1MDB, LCS, about Cash is King, BossKu and the conviction of Najib and Rosmah? The electorate that has seen how government have been used, abused, and taken advantage of to serve the vested interest of corrupt and arrogant politicians?

Not bloody likely!

Najib, Zahid, and Umno are lost in a false reality of their own making that belies the reality that we now live in.

It is true that the Opposition is still in disarray. It is also true that the PH of today is not the PH of PRU14 and I worry about what can be done to make PH ready to take government when PRU15 is upon us....but I do not worry about whom the electorates will vote for.

Umno/BN has not learned the lessons of PRU14. They have the same corrupt and arrogant leaders. The same political and mental hubris that had made them blind and deaf to what the electorates wanted of their elected leaders. And they are certainly totally lost in their belief that after PRU15, they will have back, the "kuasa mutlak" that will enable them to be the Umno/BN of old when Cash is King and all will be well for Najib, Zahid, and the Umno court cluster. Business as usual.

This month, Zahid Hamidi will be done. Umno will have a new president and if PRU15 happens sooner rather than later, the only thing that will stop PH from winning government is PH itself....not Umno.
