A Queen Chancellor (QC) in the UK is a very senior barrister appointed on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor. It's a mark of quality and excellence that only the very, very best barristers will become a QC. A highly respected role within the profession, the title of QC entitles one to charge higher fees to clients and work on more specialist cases.

QC charges range from £500 - £2,000 per hour. This rate varies according to the seniority of the QC & his/her excellence in handling past cases related to the client's case.

So for a hotshot QC in the UK who has a proven track record & is very much in demand, his/her fees may go beyond £2,000 per hour.

Rates may also be charged on per trial basis or lump-sum subject to - or irregardless of - the outcome of the trial. Of course, the profile of the client, the gravity & severity of the case especially when it has already gone through the Court of Appeal, risk management & the impact of the outcome on the QC's reputation - are factored in to the charges as well.

My point here is, Najib wants to hire a QC from UK - his wealth must be beyond my wildest dreams!
