Our Brother has survived as PM for a year and a day as of today.

He has not thrived or triumphed the way some of us expected.

The important thing is that he has managed to prevent that Hadi-Mahiaddin duo from getting near the seat of power. I can't imagine either of them as PM. Anwar is the more tolerable alternative although his tilt to some kind of a bias towards theocratic concessions in a functioning multicultural democratic system is troubling.

He must not only survive but maintain and sustain his position on the inclusiveness of our entire society. We must thank the Almighty that there have been no major scandals involving his government in the past year. No earthquakes, no missing airplanes or a case of a Mongolian murdered in cold blood. Today Sirul Azhar's narrative is on the front page of our Star newspaper. This again shows some progress and improvement in the quality of journalism.

I believe our Brother Anwar is doing some things right although patience is wearing thin over his slowness on the reform agenda. Maybe he will get better with time.

We must not forget we now have had a deputy prime minister from Sarawak for a year. That itself is a big innovation. Sarawak has an exemplary government in terms of a leadership of integrity and social harmony. I'm not sure if anyone else would have allowed that. Anwar has done it. He has to stay put in the country and attend to disturbing domestic issues. He has to survive, succeed and we have a responsibility to constantly remind him of his duties. May Malaysia prosper under a dedicated and wise leadership.
