PERSPECTIVE: Re: "We Malays know exactly where we are"

This is the scary part, isn't it? Today there has to be an order to stop the discussion on 3R, 70 years from Merdeka day. Race-based policies were run thus far, and so many thought that perhaps the good sensible ones might be willing to listen and do something to right the situation. Today you talk about Rosli Dahlan, seeking redress in a civil court, applying a system of law left by the colonial British. It has been fine for many years, even before the Merdeka days. Yet a new legal system is emerging and emerging fast.

Of course, there's anxiety, about where would it lead to. Malays are the majority in the population. What they are planning, where they are heading, and what they want to have, have a direct impact on other races. Yet there aren't that many opportunities for a non to talk about it to another Malay without ruffling wrongly. The common answer of course is that feeling that 'we know what we are doing'. The fact that Steadyaku47 gets the comments is because it's perceived to be more open-minded, of its past postings even criticizing the royalty which personally was not acceptable, because of some personal relationship and knowledge about one that was often criticized. But that was the blogger's personal opinion and he was entitled to have one.

Sometimes, perhaps most of the time, the non's opinion about the Malays is wrong. So correct it. But this is not going to happen. Instead, a misunderstanding would beget another misunderstanding and there would never be a mutual understanding. So forever in Malaysia, we can only talk about toleransi. Tolerance, is the most we can do, and has been doing it for years.

DSAI also claimed injustice for many years. Rosli Dahlan is now doing the same thing. Who fed the evil beast of ignorance to allow injustice to reign unchecked? We will never know because, when something is sensitive, one should not talk about it.

Enough said.
