Raus Talking About Integrity? Really?

Ex-CJ Raus: MACC tarnished after 'active politician' made chief.

Former chief justice Raus Sharif has attributed the downfall of the MACC’s reputation in recent years to the appointment of an ‘active politician’ as its chief commissioner in the past. He said that the independence and impartiality of the commission were not upheld upon “political interference”.

Former CJ: Further extension to Raus' tenure would be unconstitutional

Former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad has argued that a further extension to the tenure of Chief Justice Md Raus Sharif after the 66 years and six months would be unconstitutional. Hamid posted his advice on the constitutionality of prolonging the tenure with a month to go into Justice Raus' six-month extension.

Comment :

A load of rubbish from Raus. He should instead be defending the judiciary from the assault on its independence arising from the Nazlan investigation.

What on earth is Raus talking about in criticizing Latheefa Koya being appointed MACC chief commissioner? She did a darn good job in helming the MACC as compared with her successor, that crooked Azam Baki.

It’s an open secret that Raus has always been close to Najib. He and Rosmah are from the same kampung. This is obviously a criticism of Tun Mahathir who had appointed Latheefa Koya. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Najib is behind this. Raus himself did not enjoy a reputation for integrity when he was the CJ!

He has no moral authority to speak on corruption. He overstayed his tenure as CJ unconstitutionally and unlawfully. This was done in cahoot with Najib, who was then the PM.

Raus was unceremoniously chased out of 'office' when PH came into power in 2018. He wrongly thought that Najib would be there in power forever to protect him. But, alas, Najib too was ousted from power in GE14.

And the PH govt put an end to his unlawful overstaying as CJ. He meekly vacated his office, without any fight (for he knew legally he was wrong) A disgraceful and shameful conduct of a judge.
