Rosmah Mansor: Wife of ex-Malaysian PM Najib gets 10 years jail for bribery

The wife of ex-Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak has been sentenced to ten years in prison on each of three bribery charges. Rosmah Mansor was found guilty on three charges of soliciting and receiving bribes to help a company win a 1.25bn ringgit project. However, it is unclear when she will start serving a prison sentence, as she has been granted a stay of execution pending her appeal.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 — A man who stole infant formula milk for his two children was today sentenced to three days’ jail and fined RM1,200 by the Magistrate’s Court here today. Counsel P.Muniswer who represented Gopal urged the court to impose a minimum sentence as he had committed the offence out of desperation. “He stole the formula milk for his children who are four and two years old, it is his first offense, and his wife will be giving birth to their third child in two weeks’ time,” he said.

Gopal should not have to go to jail immediately. Rosmah was found guilty on three charges of soliciting and receiving bribes, and yet she has been granted a stay of execution pending her appeal.

None of you care about the above? Why? Because it does not affect you? None of you cares that the courts treat the poor differently from the way they treat the rich? And to add insult to injury, the courts granted Rosmah's application to go visit her daughter in Singapore! Hope Rosmah does not have to steal any infant formula milk to feed her daughter's baby in Singapore.

The Court of Appeal today granted Rosmah Mansor's application for the temporary release of her passport, enabling her to travel to Singapore to visit her daughter who is expected to give birth at the end of the month.
