Selangor MB, Vincent Tan & Runding Terus: A toxic mix of business and politics?

The days when you can put a spin on a project to make it seems that it is "untuk bangsa, agama dan negara" to justify a 'runding terus' project is over!

Who is involved; The Selangor State government.

The contractor/developer; Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn Bhd (LLB)

And what is the project about?

Is it a flood mitigation/prevention project of the Sungai Klang for a distance of 56km from Mid Valley to Port Klang.

OR

Is it a project to build houses along both sides of the river with a Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM10 billion?

How about making it into a runding terus project where the contractor spends RM700 million to deepen and widen the Klang River for flood mitigation, and in return, the Selangor state government gives the contractor land along both sides of the river on which the contractor, now turn developer, can build houses with a GDV of RM10 billion.

Wooha....you spend RM700 million on a project and get land on which you can develop housing with a GDV of RM10 billion.

Ponder on that for a while. Any which way you want to look at it, it is a berat sabelah deal. A one-sided deal. A win-win for the contractor. A lose-lose for the Selangor state government So why is the Selangor State government even considering such a deal? Why the 'runding terus'...why, why why?

With the State elections a few months away, I think the Selangor State government better get their act together and explain this lose-lose deal that they have entered into with Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn Bhd (LLB).
