Syed Saddiq....the future!

It has not been a good week for Syed Saddiq. Just as it must have been a bad week for Anwar Ibrahim in September 1998 when Mahathir fired him as his Deputy and Finance minister. That happens in politics, but as Anwar will tell you, it is not the falling down that measures a man, it is how many times he gets up from a fall, that eventually counts.

Who is this Syed Saddiq?

Saddiq represents millions of youth. He is the "go to" political person for many professionals and community leaders who want what is best for our people and our nation. He is not corrupt, he is principled, and within this man lies the hope of many Malaysians who dare to dream that politicians like Syed Saddiq will emerge to lead them toward building the Malaysia of their dreams.

From that fateful September in 1998 when he was sacked as DPM and Finance Minister, It has taken Anwar twenty-five years to get to where he is now: as prime minister of Malaysia. So Syed Saddiq...be prepared for the long haul. Be prepared for the many trials and tribulations that will surely come your way if politics is to be your life.

In my lifetime, I cannot remember a more determined and committed individual prepared to make sacrifices and work hard towards his stated goal of doing what is best for our people...and always, dia cakap saperti dia bikin.

For sure, he is going through a steep learning curve as politics in Malaysia is a minefield of vested interests, corruption, and a "winner-take-all" reality. But change is now happening even as we speak. The challenge for Syed Saddiq is to sort out the facts from fiction, the riffs from the raffs, and hope that the very people he wants to lead towards a better future, are ready for him.

Meanwhile, watch your back, trust your instincts, and believe in your ability to overcome whatever stands in your way towards the future we all want for Malaysia.
