The NEP : An attack on Malay self-esteem?

Joseph Chan The need to create NEP in 1975 must have been to calm down the majority Malaysians in 1969 is correct. But it was also a disservice to those it was designed to help. The thesis of Mahathir’s book The Malay Dilemma was that Malays were basically lazy and needed help from the government is the faulty grounding assumption. The NEP is actually an attack on Malay self-esteem. I can tell you why: Islam has become a doctrine of conformity, where particular rights and rituals must legally be adhered to. Failure to do so in the case of not fasting during Ramadan can lead to punitive legal action. Just recently, the Islamic authorities (JAKIM) in Selangor started investigating a discussion forum on women’s choice about wearing the hijab. Not just freedom of discussion is stifled, but also the right to be creative. Today, the majority of Chinese Malaysians segregate themselves racially early in life by paying for their education overseas. Please look at the implementations of the 1st NEP in 1970. A non Malay with 7 or 9 As are NOT ACCEPTED BY OUR LOCAL UNI. WHAT ELSE IS THERE FOR THE PARENTS TO DO? I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SMOKING, I AM FROM THE FIRST YEAR OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEP 1970 IN FORM FIVE.

Today, the new generation of Malays are a confident lot, quickly becoming producers of wealth. HUH!?!

How?

These so-called people in power cannot even manage a business through the proper means.

Look at the number of GLCs in Malaysia. How many of these are making money? Why is it that after 2 or 3 year these MNCs changes their MD or CEO. Let's dig deeper the government in order to raise the number of Malay students to pass then the Form 5 and then Form 6 and them at the UNI they all lowered their passing grades. Resulting in the people fast-forward failing to use their mind to manage these big businesses which was given to them on their lap without any useable talent and skill set. Do you want me to go on?

Recently the CEO of KFP was charged in court for deceiving the board to a tume of millions of USD in a project that was non existent. This is how they acquire their wealth in Malaysia. Fast and Easy and Loose! What about my poor cousins in Sabah and Sarawak with NO INTERNET TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK? Ever thought about them? True times are a changing for the worse.

Malaysia HAVE NOT HIT ROCK BOTTOM YET WITH SABRI.

Johan Taharin Replying toJoseph Chan Joseph, good afternoon.i agree with some of your argument.thank you Joseph.the government elected by the majority should now implement new policies and programs to support the wishes of the Chinese fairly and the majority too.politically, chinese must at least have about 67 seats in parliament to represent the itself.in economy, govt policies should work towards reversing the cash transfer from the producer based wealthy chinese to the poorer consumer majority Malays.this is where the Malays must change their malas attitude.what say you?🙂 Like Reply
