Tony Pua and Yeo Bee Yin : Loyalty to the people of Malaysia! Tabek!

SHAH ALAM: High-profile MPs Tony Pua and Ong Kian Ming, who had backed a political cooperation with the Muhyiddin Yassin government last year, failed to defend their seats in the DAP leadership at the party elections today.

Pua, who is DAP national publicity chief, drew 744 votes while Ong, who is the assistant political education director, obtained 535. They trailed far behind Sabah assembly member Jannie Lasimbang who secured the 30th position with 877 votes.

The pair had come under heavy criticism last year after suggesting that Pakatan Harapan should look into a proposed framework for bipartisan political cooperation put forward by then Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin just days before he resigned in August.

Two other high-profile members who also failed to make the cut were Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin and Wanita leader Chong Eng.
