Win, Lose or Draw. The End of Time, for Umno, draws near.

A few days back, I wrote “Given Enough Rope, He Did Hang Himself in Johor!’ about the Convicted Felon. I was remiss, I should have included Umno into the equation.

Win, lose or draw, I don't care any more for what happens in Umno.

One thing is self-evident in the Umno of today. There are a many feuding factions within Umno as there are thorns on the Durian. Each feuding faction are feuding to lead Umno. Ismail Sabri, Najib, Zahid, Tok Mat, Hishamuddin, KJ..... the list is as endless as the day is long.

For as long as I can remember - and I have been there from the time of Tunku - the President of Umno is always its leader in every sense of the word. When there is a death or a resignation - the other next most deserving person will take over as leader. When there is a dispute as to whom shall be its leader, it will be decided by a vote within Umno - as it was decided between Mahathir and the Tengku Razali/Musa Hitam faction.

Today, there are too many competing individuals and factions for a ballot to decide who among them shall be King. Yes, make no mistake, Ismail Sabri is just a stop gap measure. He is fighting for his own survival for he knows that if he falls, his son-in-law turn pharmacist businessman, falls with him. And whoever is elected President, one thing is sure, Umno will be wrecked asunder and will go under. Umno is too divided - and the divisions are too toxic - to allow Umno to carry on the way it is now. There will be an UMNO TERBARU plus plus….it will be shades of Semangat 46 plus plus, all over again.

Today, it is no longer a struggle for race and religion. Today it is a struggle for self and political power - for with political power comes insane wealth. Wealth in the hundreds of millions. If your Ketua dies. Your potential millions, die with him. If Bossku is out. You go out with him.

I suggest that the Opposition consolidate and find, from within its rank, a decent and responsible leader and wait for Umno to disintegrate. Why do I say this? Let me story you....

Malacca and Johor were driven by one matalamat. To give Najib and the Umno Court Cluster eventual control of Umno, for only by doing so can they plot and scheme to stay out of jail. Nothing else matters. Nothing. Anything they need to do towards that end, they will do.

The Malacca PRN was a relatively easy exercise. Cut and dry. In and out like Flynn.

In Johore, you have to buy Mr Sultan (and they did) and whatever else they need to buy to get BN to control Johor. This, the convicted felon has done with panache. More money than panache, but who cares. Done deal.

If, as he had promised to do, Ismail Sabri will still not call a General Election pronto, what State will the Convicted felon and his brigands go to, next?

Perak? No way Jose. The Sultan there cannot be bought. End of story.

Pahang? Too many skeletons in the cupboards to take a chance on Pahang. Anyway, Dollah is already financially well taken care of in Istana Negara.

What other Sultan in what state can be bought over by Najib and his henchman? Perlis? Hell no…not after what Deepak has said about Rosmah and her Shamen ways in putting the hex on their Sultan when he was King.

Trengganu? He already has one hell of a Palace. What can top that? Too much money even for the convicted felon to spend.

Kelantan? Does the Sultan there wants his Russian interlude to become national or even international fare again? Does he want to allow his Russian Folly to have another spate of international fame and an international platform to plead her case and the case of her son, the Sultan son’s….plead for their day in court and a bigger settlement? Not bloody likely. He wants to stay out of the limelight.

Kedah? No, the Sultan there does not have the stomach for any politics.

What of Negri Sembilan? Do not even go there. The Yang di Pertuan is the new breed of Sultan. Educated. Smart and thoroughly his own man. He wants what is best for Negri Sembilan and what is best for Malaysia. He deserves his Daulat Tuanku. He does not want a convicted felon anywhere in Putrajaya. And the Umno Court Cluster, for all the Yang Di Pertuan care, can go cluster in Sungai Buloh.

Penang? Ha ha ha….

So that is why I said that the Convicted Felon hanged himself in Johor. After Johor, he has nowhere to go but down. No Sultan will work with him. Menteri Besars probably - but which MB is strong enough to ignore the wishes of his Sultan? Tell me…which one ? Huh, none of them are prepared to go against the wishes of their Sultan!

Expect Ismail Sabri to hold firm and NOT call a general election. Expect the other factions within Umno to start flexing their muscles and seek for ways to strengthen and consolidate their power base. Expect the Umno warlords within Umno to seek more concessions and forge political alliance to benefit themselves at the expense of Najib, Zahid, Ismail Sabri and everyone else. And expect Tok Mat to stay true to himself and make a play for the presidency himself.

And I have still not spoken about the next generation of Umno leaders who know that they can afford to wait for the old farts to fade away, before they make their play for power themselves.

Long story short…Umno is brewing a perfect storm - so perfect that it will blow Umno to kingdom come. The only question left to be answered…WHEN.
