Tan Sri Yap Ah Loy....maybe a Tunship?

It has taken a Chinese friend of mine in Melbourne, Lawrence, to allow me to learn about this man that I have known for as long as I can remembered. Lawrence shared this video of Yap Ah Loy with me....and once I started watching it...I was amazed at what I did NOT know about this great Chinese man who did so much for our Kuala Lumpur. It goes without saying that I watch it right to the end and decided that I will share it with you guys too - and posted it here for everyone to see. Truly this Yap Ah Loy deserved at least a posthamouir Tan Sri if not a Tun title for what he has done for Kuala Lumpur for us. Tun Yap Ah Loy...it has a nice ring to it kan?

There may be contentions about the Founder of Kuala Lumpur, which he wasn't, but there is no dispute that it was his indefatigable energy, good administration and sheer determination that in spite of KL being burnt to the ground repeatedly during the Selangor Civil War and the floods of both the town and the mines, his rebuilding by establishing the first brick works in Brickfields, the building of roads connecting the mines and to Klang, the first school, hospital, prison and police force by which KL established itself as a thriving commercial, industrial and residential town etc, that rightfully earned him the title of the Father of Kuala Lumpur, hence, one of the few we can call the Fathers of our Nation, the first of which is of course, Parameswara. Tengku Abdul Rahman is another. Can you think of others deserving of the accolade?
